Speaking at the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, President BarackObama on Friday mentioned this recent encounter. He attendees his credit cardhad recently been declined at a restaurant, forcing the First Lady to pick upthe tab. “Rich, I should mention, by the way, that I went to a restaurant up in NewYork when I was there during the General Assembly, and my credit card wasrejected,” Obama said, referring to CFPB Director Richard Cordray.
Press reports indicate the restaurant was Estela, rated one of the best newrestaurants of 2014.
“It turned out I guess I don t use it enough. So they thought there wassome fraud going on,” Obama said.
The president said he turned to his wife to pay the tab.
“Fortunately, Michelle had hers. And I was trying to explain to thewaitress, no, I really think that I ve been paying my bills.”

時(shí)值9月份，奧巴馬總統(tǒng)因?yàn)檎匍_聯(lián)合國大會(huì)而趕來紐約。在紐約期間與美國第一夫人米歇爾在曼哈頓下城區(qū)的Estela餐廳里用餐。通過一張餐廳發(fā)布在網(wǎng)上的點(diǎn)餐記錄，可以發(fā)現(xiàn)，奧巴馬總統(tǒng)當(dāng)晚點(diǎn)的餐是歐芹醬配意大利起司(Burrata with salsaverde)以及碳烤面包(charred bread)，以及伴有胡桃子與小銀魚的苣菜沙拉(endive salad with walnut andanchovies)。
這家餐廳是倉南山餐廳(Blue Hill at StoneBarns)的一位前職員所開。而奧巴馬一家人在這個(gè)暑期剛剛在這家餐廳出席他們的御用大廚的婚禮。
